“If music is the place-then Jazz is the City” hear it live at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival. Chicago’s upbeat jazz scene will be prominently featured for two days during the 13th annual festival dedicated to Chicago’s most critically acclaimed artists as well as nationally and internationally recognized talents.
Described as a “near-perfect marriage of music and setting,” by Chicago Magazine, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival is the essence of a first class festival. Presented on 14 stages across Hyde Park, this remarkable two-day free festival showcases collaboration between academic, cultural and community institutions, and local businesses to present over 30 bands in a variety of settings throughout the Hyde Park neighborhood. Over 20,000 jazz fans and enthusiasts will gather at the event to enjoy more than 18 hours of free, nonstop jazz performances.
In addition to embracing the end of summer, and the smooth jazz melodies that made the city famous, festival goers will get the chance to get a first-hand look at the historic Chicago neighborhood of Hyde Park. First held in 2007, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival was created to bring new audiences in to the many arts and cultural organizations in Hyde Park and to celebrate jazz’s great legacy and bright future on Chicago’s South Side.
Please note, certain areas of the festival stay open until 12am on Saturday.
Admission to the Hyde Park Jazz Fest is a suggested $5 donation.
